The Pinch is the inspiration of Mark and Sam, two guys coming from the world of international travel and hospitality, who are extremely passionate about food and beautiful customer experiences.

We are two happy transplants to Switzerland who have been business partners for over 20 years.  Mark originally from the USA now calls Appenzellerland his home and Sam from Melbourne, Australia is a Zurich city urbanite.


The Pinch opened in Autumn 2019 with the goal of bringing the innovative and mouth watering food we know from our homes in Australia and the USA and experienced during our decades of business travels around the world to the city of St. Gallen.


Our restaurant and bar (70+ seats inside/40 seats on terrace) on Davidstrasse 20 offers guests a warm and inviting atmosphere whether for a morning coffee, a bite for lunch or dinner or to meet up with friends and share some drinks in the evening at our bar.

Friendly, flexible and relaxed service is at our core and our mission is to make our customers feel welcomed and at home from early in the morning to late at night, seven days a week.

Full Time
Beginning Spring 2022

The Pinch restaurant is looking for an exciting up-and-coming Sous Chef to join it’s kitchen Management to help lead and drive greatness within the kitchen team in general.


You will work closely with the Head Chef, and when they are not there, you yourself will act as the head chef.


Your responsibilities range from co-development of the production process, supply purchasing and inventory management, developing new menu items and staff training and scheduling for approximately 7 employees.


Leading through passion and by example will be of utmost importance to ensure that our high quality and hygiene standards are maintained. You should have at least 3-5 years professional a la carte kitchen experience, ideally at sous chef level or equivalent.

Are you a fun and energetic person who enjoys working in a face paced environment and leading by example?


We are looking for a strong and experienced front of house day manager who can oversee the entire front of house experience at The Pinch restaurant.


Ranging from staff scheduling, meal services and leading the restaurant smoothly throughout the day, this role has full responsibility of all non-kitchen functions of the restaurant. A passion for service and pride of positive customer experiences should be central to the way you carry yourself in the restaurant and lead your staff by example.
